Jammu Fire News: Major Blaze at Bantalab Cremation Ground Destroys Essential Firewood Stocks

JAMMU April 03 :- A massive fire broke out in the early hours of Friday at a cremation ground in the Bantalab area of Jammu, resulting in the total destruction of a significant quantity of firewood stored for last rites.

The blaze erupted at the local Shamshan Ghat, where large stockpiles of wood are traditionally kept for funeral rituals.

While the fire caused substantial material loss and sparked concern among the local community, officials confirmed that the swift arrival of emergency responders prevented the incident from escalating into a larger catastrophe.

Upon receiving the alert, the Fire and Emergency Services Department dispatched multiple fire tenders to the scene. Firefighters worked tirelessly to contain the flames, successfully preventing the fire from spreading to nearby residential infrastructure or surrounding greenery.

“The fire was contained quickly, which helped avert a larger incident,” a department official stated, praising the rapid deployment and coordination of the firefighting teams.

Fortunately, no loss of life or injuries were reported in the incident.The destruction of the firewood has caused immediate distress among local residents, as the material is essential for performing traditional funeral services.
