Union Home Minister Amit Shah praises rescue forces for saving 300 stranded tourists in Gulmarg cable car operation
SRINAGAR, May 25, 2026Union Home Minister Amit Shah praised India’s disaster response forces for safely rescuing 300 tourists who were stranded mid-air in cable cars at the popular resort of Gulmarg in Kashmir.
The complex rescue operation involved a joint response from multiple agencies that swung into action immediately after the crisis unfolded.
The disaster response teams comprising the State Disaster Response Force, National Disaster Response Force, Army personnel, local police, and the local administration successfully retrieved all passengers safely.
The rescue operation lasted six hours, during which the teams worked meticulously to evacuate the passengers stranded across 65 cable cars.
The Home Minister commended the personnel involved, stating that the nation salutes the forces for their valour and skill displayed during the high-altitude operation. The swift and coordinated effort ensured that a major crisis was averted without any casualties.
