Udhampur Reasi range DIG reviews security grid and hosts public outreach across Udhampur

UDHAMPUR, May 20, 2026 — Deputy Inspector General of Police for the Udhampur-Reasi Range, Shiv Kumar Sharma, conducted an extensive operational tour across Shivgali, Dudu, Latti, Mantalai, and Sudhmahadev to review the prevailing security scenario and evaluate ground-level preparedness.

The high-level visit aimed to strengthen local security mechanisms, intensify counter-terror operations, and reinforce public confidence through proactive policing and close collaboration among multiple security agencies operating in the mountainous region.

During the initial leg of the tour at Shivgali, the DIG chaired a strategic meeting with local police commanders, including the operational heads and station house officers from Latti, Basantgarh, and Dudu.

He directed officers to intensify long-range patrols, short-range patrols, cordon and search operations, and counter-insurgency activities while actively mobilizing Village Defence Guards to maintain a robust security grid.

This was followed by a direct inspection at the Dudu police post, where personnel were instructed to maintain heightened vigilance, enhance surveillance, and execute effective area domination measures in sensitive locations.

The tour also featured extensive community interaction, including a public outreach programme at the Latti police station where the DIG met with local residents and prominent citizens.

He urged families to monitor the younger generation closely to protect them from narcotics under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu Kashmir Abhiyan initiative. While addressing local grievances, the official assured full administrative support and emphasized that timely sharing of information regarding suspicious activities is crucial for collective peace.

Similar security reviews and anti-drug public awareness interactions were later conducted at the high-profile Sudhmahadev Temple and Mantalai areas alongside local station officers.
