Udhampur Police Attach Assets Worth 45 Lakh Belonging to Notorious Baramulla Drug Smuggler
UDHAMPUR, April 21, 2026:- In a significant move under the Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyaan, the Udhampur Police has attached movable and immovable property valued at 45 lakh belonging to a drug smuggler from Baramulla.
The accused, identified as Mohammad Rustum Shah, son of Nazir Ahmed Shah and resident of Hamdania Colony, Nadihal, is currently facing charges under FIR No. 59/2026 at the Rehambal Police Station. The investigation revealed that the assets, which include a residential house registered in his wife’s name and a Dzire VXI vehicle, were allegedly acquired through the proceeds of illicit narcotics trafficking.
The attachment was executed under Section 68-F of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, following a detailed probe by investigating officers who established a direct link between the assets and the illegal drug trade.
This latest action brings the total value of properties seized from drug peddlers by the Udhampur Police to 80 lakh as part of the ongoing anti-drug campaign.
Authorities reiterated their commitment to dismantling the financial networks of drug syndicates while continuing awareness programs designed to safeguard the region’s youth from the dangers of substance abuse.
