JAMMU, July 23, 2026 — In a swift and well-coordinated joint rescue effort, the Jammu Police and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) successfully saved two men stranded in the middle of the swollen Tawi River near Prambli in the Phallian Mandal area today. The individuals, identified as 25-year-old Farman Ali of Allora and 28-year-old Farooq Ahmed of Sohanjana, had ventured near the riverbank early in the morning to graze their cattle. However, a sudden and rapid surge in the river’s water level caught them off guard, leaving them trapped amidst the rising currents.
Upon receiving an urgent distress call, officers from the Phallian Mandal Police Post immediately alerted the SDRF via the Jammu Police Control Room (PCR). Police teams—led by the SDPO City South alongside the Phallian Mandal Police Post Incharge—rushed to the scene to assist the specialized SDRF unit in launching an immediate extraction effort. Thanks to their meticulous and prompt tactical operation, both men were safely brought ashore without sustaining any injuries and were subsequently reunited with their families. Senior Jammu Police officials commended the seamless coordination and rapid action of the rescue teams, confirming that the situation in the area has since returned to normal.
