RAMBAN, July 22 — Two people died and five others sustained injuries after a shooting stone hit a passenger tempo traveling along the Jammu Srinagar National Highway near Ramsoo in Ramban district on Wednesday.
Official sources reported that the heavy stone struck the moving vehicle amidst continuous rainfall in the region, resulting in severe damage to the tempo.
Following the accident, emergency personnel, police officers, and local volunteers launched a joint rescue operation to evacuate the trapped passengers. The injured travelers were rushed to Primary Health Centre Ramsoo and adjacent medical facilities for immediate treatment.
Health officials confirmed that two victims later succumbed to their injuries while undergoing treatment, while the remaining five passengers continue to receive medical care.
Authorities are in the process of verifying the identities of the deceased, and police have initiated an investigation into the incident.
