JAMMU, July 25 — A special National Investigation Agency court has rejected the interim bail application of dismissed police officer Devinder Singh, but granted him five days of custody parole on humanitarian grounds to attend the post-death rituals of his father in Srinagar next week.
Devinder Singh, who was arrested in January 2020 while attempting to transport Hizbul Mujahideen terrorists including commander Syed Naveed Mushtaq in Anantnag, has been lodged in Kot Bhalwal central jail in Jammu and was dismissed from service in 2021 following an NIA chargesheet.
Seeking 20 days of interim bail after his father Deedar Singh passed away on July 17, his plea was turned down for full interim release, though custody parole was allowed while his regular bail appeal remains pending before the High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.
