Sopore police seize drug peddler property worth 22.49 lakh

SOPORE, June 04, 2026:Sopore police attached immovable property worth over 22.49 lakh rupees belonging to a notorious drug peddler under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act as part of the ongoing 100-Day Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyaan.The attached property belongs to Suhail Ahmad Zargar, also known as Lala, a resident of Behrampora, Rafiabad, who has been involved in narcotics trafficking.

Financial investigation established that the property was acquired through proceeds generated from illicit drug trafficking, leading to its identification and attachment in accordance with the law.This action is part of a sustained strategy by local authorities to target both drug peddlers and the financial infrastructure sustaining the narcotics trade.

By depriving offenders of assets generated through illegal activities, the police aim to dismantle the economic foundations of drug networks and create an effective deterrent.

Authorities have identified several more properties linked to notorious drug peddlers and narcotics traffickers across the district. The process for attachment of these illegally acquired assets is already underway, and more actions are expected in the coming days.

The Police reiterated their zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking and stated their commitment to dismantling the entire narcotics ecosystem through enforcement, financial investigation, and community participation. Officials also urged the public to continue supporting the anti-drug campaign by sharing information regarding local drug peddling.
