SHOPIAN, JULY 27 — In a major crackdown on food safety non-compliance, the Court of Adjudication in Shopian disposed of 12 cases under the Food Safety and Standards Act, imposing a total penalty of ₹62,000 on defaulting business operators. The proceedings were presided over by Adjudicating Officer and Additional Deputy Commissioner Zakir Hussain Faaz, targeting vendors involved in selling substandard milk, unsafe edible oil, and failing to adhere to regulatory hygiene norms.
Emphasizing a strict zero-tolerance approach toward compromised food quality, the administration issued a stern warning that repeat offenders will face severe legal consequences and heavier financial penalties. The Court directed the local Food Safety Department to step up market inspection drives across the district, reinforcing the administration’s commitment to safeguarding public health and ensuring only safe, compliant food products reach consumers.
