Self enumeration phase for Census 2027 commences with district wide awareness camps in Kathua

KATHUA, May 17 — The District Administration Kathua launched a widespread awareness campaign across the district following the commencement of the Self-Enumeration phase of Census 2027.

The extensive drive is being conducted to encourage maximum public participation in the exercise scheduled from May 17 to May 31, 2026 across Jammu and Kashmir. Special awareness camps were organized at multiple locations by designated Charge Officers to educate citizens about the digital process, facilitate public understanding, and ensure smooth participation from their homes.

During these programmes, officers sensitized the masses about the step-by-step procedure and highlighted the significance of accurate data collection for the national census exercise.The public representatives actively participated in the camps and appealed to the residents to extend full cooperation.

Demonstrating leadership in the initiative, MLA Basohli Darshan Kumar, MLA Bani Rameshwar Singh, MLA Billawar Satish Sharma, and MLA Hiranagar Vijay Kumar successfully completed their own self-enumeration during the drive.

The district administration team assisted these representatives and explained the complete digital procedure, which was highly appreciated for its role in ensuring inclusive census coverage.

Officials emphasized that self-enumeration allows residents to submit details securely and digitally, enhancing efficiency and transparency.

Principal Census Officer Rajesh Sharma urged all eligible residents to participate within the stipulated period and contribute to the success of Census 2027.
