JAMMU, July 21, 2026 — In response to adverse weather forecasts issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) Battalion Headquarters, Jammu, launched a comprehensive Public Safety Awareness campaign today along the banks of the Tawi River. Led by Deputy Superintendent of Police (Dy. SP) Lalit Kumar, the specialized disaster response team conducted public announcements across vulnerable riverside communities, alerting residents that severe weather conditions are expected to persist through July 23, 2026.
To prevent potential casualties during the ongoing monsoon season, the SDRF team strongly advised citizens to take proactive precautions. Authorities urged the public to stay indoors, avoid non-essential travel, and strictly refrain from venturing into or near the Tawi River and other surrounding water bodies. Additionally, residents were encouraged to download the National Disaster Management Authority’s (NDMA) SACHET mobile app (sachet.ndma.gov.in) to access real-time weather forecasts and early warning alerts. The SDRF reaffirmed its continuous commitment to implementing all necessary measures to safeguard lives and enhance public safety throughout the monsoon period.
