RAJOURI, JULY 21 — Minister for Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Information Technology, Youth Services & Sports, and Science & Technology Satish Sharma conducted a comprehensive visit to flood-hit regions in Rajouri district to review damage caused by recent flash floods and oversee ongoing relief and restoration operations.
Accompanied by MLA Rajouri Iftikhar Ahmed, MLA Thanamandi Muzaffar Ahmad Khan, and senior district officials, the Minister inspected the severely damaged Baila Bus Stand in Rajouri town, examining structural destruction and damaged vehicles while directing authorities to conduct a thorough loss assessment to restore public transport services swiftly.
During his visit, the Minister inspected the relief and rehabilitation center established at Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Rajouri, where displaced families are currently accommodated. Interacting directly with affected residents, Sharma assured them of full government support, noting that the administration remains committed to providing timely relief, safe shelter, healthcare, essential supplies, and dignified rehabilitation.
Deputy Commissioner Abhishek Sharma briefed the Minister on the immediate rescue measures undertaken alongside the comprehensive provisions implemented at the relief camp, including food, clean water, medical care, and counseling services.
The visit concluded with an extensive review of essential public utility restoration, including power, drinking water supply, road connectivity, and food grain distribution across affected areas.
Praising the coordinated efforts of the district administration, Police, SDRF, Civil Defence, and local volunteers, the Minister instructed all departments to work in synergy, process damage claims rapidly, and maintain a high state of alert until complete normalcy and full rehabilitation are achieved across the district.
