Samba SSP Anuj Kumar orders police to track drug supply chains and freeze properties of traffickers

SAMBA, June 2, 2026 :- Senior Superintendent of Police Anuj Kumar chaired a crime review meeting at the District Police Office Samba today to assess the progress of investigations under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.

The high-level meeting was attended by the Additional Superintendent of Police, all Sub-Divisional Police Officers, Station House Officers, and investigating officers of narcotics cases across the district. The primary focus of the session was to evaluate ongoing investigations and formulate robust strategies to strengthen anti-narcotics operations in the region.

During the review, the senior superintendent stressed the necessity of a focused and intelligence-driven approach to completely dismantle narcotics networks rather than limiting investigations to individual drug possessors. He directed all investigating officers to thoroughly establish backward and forward linkages in every narcotics case to identify the original suppliers, financiers, transporters, facilitators, and street-level peddlers involved in the illicit trade.

Officers were instructed to conduct sustained follow-up investigations to uncover inter-district and inter-state smuggling connections.The district police chief further directed force personnel to intensify surveillance in vulnerable areas, maintain a strict watch on repeat offenders, and utilize both technical and human intelligence to intercept contraband.

Special emphasis was laid on tracing the financial proceeds of crime generated through drug trafficking and initiating legal proceedings for the attachment of illegally acquired properties under the relevant provisions of the law. Reaffirming a zero-tolerance policy against drug abuse, the senior superintendent urged all officers to work with high professionalism to eliminate the drug menace from the district.
