Samba Police demolish illegal structures at Balole Khad drug hotspot and retrieve land worth 60 crores
SAMBA, May 17, 2026 :- The District Police Samba, in coordination with the Civil Administration, launched a major anti-narcotics enforcement action by executing a joint demolition drive at the notorious drug hotspot Balole Khad in Bari Brahmana.
Led by SSP Anuj Kumar, the operations successfully dismantled 33 illegal structures, including the residential facilities of eight prominent drug peddlers, which were being misused for the storage, concealment, and trafficking of heroin.
The extensive drive resulted in the retrieval of approximately 50 kanals of encroached land valued at nearly 60 crore rupees.
The retrieved land, which belongs to the SIDCO Industrial Area Bari Brahmana, has been formally handed back to the corporation, with boundary fencing and floodlights installed immediately to secure the perimeter.
The targeted area had been placed under continuous surveillance due to its reputation as a safe haven for habitual offenders and cross-district drug networks.
Official records indicate that the primary drug peddlers operating from this hotspot have a extensive criminal history, collectively accounting for more than 35 FIRs registered across various police stations in the Samba and Jammu districts.
Among the key accused identified by the police are Mohd Baru, who faces 10 FIRs and has been absconding since a Public Safety Act warrant was issued against him in January 2026, alongside his wife Dahua Bibi, who is linked to three FIRs.
Other notorious suppliers operating from the demolished hub include Manshu, Farman Ali, Farooq Din, Farooq Ali, Haider, and Farman Din, all of whom have multiple pending cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act and other criminal charges.
This decisive action was carried out under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyan to completely dismantle the infrastructure facilitating drug trafficking in the region. The Samba Police reiterated their zero-tolerance policy against narcotics and warned that any individuals targeting the youth through illegal drug trades will face the absolute rigor of the law.
Moving forward, the police and civil administration plan to sustain these high-intensity operations to thoroughly disrupt the regional drug ecosystem, protect public health, and ensure that no locality is permitted to function as a hub for criminal activities.
