Reduced river discharge cuts power generation and triggers outages across multiple Jammu areas Last night
JAMMU, May 17 — A significant reduction in water discharge across regional rivers has led to decreased power generation, severely impacting the overall power supply and causing electricity outages in several areas of Jammu last night.
The Jammu Power Distribution Corporation Limited addressed the situation via social media, explaining that the drop in river levels directly constrained power production capabilities during a period of high demand.
In response to the escalating crisis, authorities stated that active efforts are currently underway to procure additional electricity from alternative sources to tide over the supply deficit.
The corporation has appealed to all consumers to use electricity judiciously to help stabilize the grid, while expressing regret for the inconvenience caused to the public during the unscheduled power disruptions.
