REASI, July 22, 2026 — As part of its relentless campaign under the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan, the Reasi Police intercepted a suspect and seized approximately 2.79 grams of heroin (locally known as Chitta) during a routine security check in the Katra region. On July 21, officers stationed at the Nomai Check Post stopped a suspicious male pedestrian traveling from Jammu toward Katra. A thorough search yielded a white polythene bag containing the illicit substance, leading to the immediate arrest of the individual, later identified as Murad Ali, a resident of Latori, Dhanoori, Katra.
Following the recovery, Police Station Katra registered FIR No. 254/2026 under Sections 8, 21, and 22 of the NDPS Act, initiating an active investigation to uncover both the origin and destination networks tied to the contraband. Reaffirming its strict zero-tolerance stance on illegal narcotics, the Reasi Police continues to intensify operations across the district while urging community members to proactively report any suspicious drug-related activities to support a safer, drug-free society.
