RAJOURI, JULY 22: Minister for Jal Shakti, Forest, Ecology, Environment, and Tribal Affairs Javed Ahmed Rana and Minister for Youth Services, Sports, Transport, and Consumer Affairs Satish Sharma visited flood-ravaged localities across Rajouri district to evaluate damage from recent flash floods.
Accompanied by local lawmakers and administrative officials, the ministers inspected severely impacted sites, including Bella Colony in Darhali where swollen streams breached protection walls and flooded the local bus stand. During discussions with affected residents, leadership pledged full government backing to accelerate emergency relief and infrastructure recovery under the direction of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.
Emphasizing the urgency of basic utility restoration, the ministers instructed the district administration and line departments to repair damaged roads, restore clean drinking water, and rebuild breached flood protection bunds on a war footing.
The Power Development Department was specifically directed to prioritize electricity grid repairs to ensure water supply schemes resume operation immediately.
While departments execute transparent assessments of house and crop damages to clear compensation claims without delay, officials urged local communities to observe weather advisories and stay clear of high-risk stream banks.
