Punjab Police solves Gurdaspur grenade case with arrest of three suspects
GURDASPUR, May 17, 2026 :- The Gurdaspur Police, in coordination with the Counter Intelligence wing of the Punjab Police, has cracked the recent grenade case involving a hand grenade recovered on April 27, 2026, near Geeta Bhawan Road.
Following a swift operation, law enforcement agencies arrested three accused individuals linked to the security threat. Acting on technical inputs, extensive CCTV footage analysis, and human intelligence, the police team successfully identified the suspects involved in hurling the explosive device near local shop premises.
During the subsequent investigation, police personnel recovered another live hand grenade from the residence of one of the arrested individuals. Preliminary investigations reveal that the accused were acting directly on the instructions of a foreign-based handler, who had supplied them with the two hand grenades to execute the attack.
A formal case has been registered at the City Police Station in Gurdaspur under relevant sections of the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act and the Explosive Substances Act.
Further investigations are currently underway to establish both forward and backward linkages, including identifying the foreign handlers and neutralizing local support networks.
