POONCH, July 24 — District Development Commissioner Poonch Ashok Kumar Sharma visited the flash flood affected Hari Marhote villages in Tehsil Surankote to assess the damage caused by the recent natural calamity and review ongoing rescue, relief, and restoration operations.
Accompanied by key district officers, including the Surankote Sub Divisional Magistrate and Executive Engineers from various departments, the District Development Commissioner inspected damaged roads, school buildings, river protection bunds, standing crops, and public utilities across the subdivision.
During the visit, the administration interacted with flood affected families to gather first hand feedback on immediate requirements and the extent of losses. On the spot directions were issued to all concerned departments to expedite the repair of essential infrastructure and minimize public inconvenience.
The District Development Commissioner assured residents that the local administration stands with them and that financial assistance as per prescribed norms will be provided without delay after proper assessment of genuine cases.
The district administration has maintained a round the clock presence for the past five days, deploying field teams across affected villages to rescue stranded residents, evaluate damage, and restore vital supply lines. Field functionaries from various public departments continue to work in challenging terrain to ensure prompt rehabilitation and normalcy across Surankote.
The District Development Commissioner appreciated the dedicated efforts of emergency response teams and field staff actively carrying out relief operations in the region.
