Northern Railway ticket checking staff reunites missing child with parents at Katra station

JAMMU, May 19 — A ticket checking staff member of the Northern Railway Jammu Division displayed remarkable vigilance and compassion by safely reuniting a lost child with her family at the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra railway station.

While on duty, ticket checking staff member Dinesh Kumar spotted a frightened young girl wandering alone and crying on the station premises. He immediately approached the child, comforted her with water, and took steps to calm her down, as she was initially too terrified to share her name or address.

Recognizing the urgency of the situation, the ticket checking staff promptly notified station authorities and the Railway Protection Force. Simultaneously, continuous descriptions of the missing child were broadcasted over the station public address system to locate her family.

The swift response successfully alerted the distressed parents, who were actively searching the premises for their daughter.Following proper identification verification and the completion of necessary official formalities, the child was safely handed over to her parents.

Deeply relieved, the family expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the railway administration and the checking staff for their prompt action and dedication to passenger safety.

Commending the exemplary act, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Uchit Singhal praised the alertness and quick thinking of the staff.

He emphasized that the railway administration remains fully committed to passenger safety and assistance, stating that such sensitivity and spirit of service reflect the core values upheld by the entire railway team.
