JAMMU, July 23, 2026 — In response to severe traffic disruptions on the National Highway caused by heavy rainfall and bad weather, Northern Railway’s Jammu Division operated a special relief train from Srinagar to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra today to assist passengers stranded in the Kashmir Valley. Organized under the direct orders of Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Uchit Singhal, the initiative aimed to ensure safe, comfortable, and prompt travel for affected visitors. Departing Srinagar Railway Station at 17:10 hrs, the special train made a scheduled halt at Banihal before its expected arrival in Katra at 20:15 hrs, accommodating over 600 passengers. This service provided crucial connectivity, helping travelers reach onward train connections at both Katra and Jammu Tawi stations on schedule.
Prioritizing passenger welfare, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Uchit Singhal emphasized that safety and convenience remain the division’s top priorities, noting that the prompt decision to launch the train prevented further travel disruptions.
