MVD Rajouri Cracks Down on Traffic Violations: 16 Challans Issued and 4 Vehicles Seized

RAJOURI, MAY 23: Under the direct instructions of District Commissioner Rajouri, Abhishek Sharma, and Transport Commissioner, Vishesh Paul Mahajan, the Motor Vehicles Department (MVD) Rajouri launched a massive vehicle checking drive today. Supervised by Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) Ashiq Rafiq Malik, the enforcement operation resulted in the inspection of 70 vehicles. During the crackdown, authorities issued 16 challans for various traffic offenses and seized four vehicles for severe violations, with the expected penalty accumulation totaling Rs 50,400. Additionally, the department recommended two driving licenses for suspension due to repeated non-compliance with traffic rules.

The comprehensive drive targeted several critical safety violations, including driving without a valid license, overloading, operating transport vehicles without a Speed Limiting Device (SLD), unauthorized vehicle modifications, riding without helmets, failure to wear the prescribed uniform, dangerous driving, and defiance of lawful orders. Alongside the enforcement actions, ARTO Malik actively interacted with local passengers to verify that transport operators were charging fair, government-approved rates. He urged the public to immediately report any instances of overcharging or transport norm violations to the authorities. Backed by an inspection team featuring MVI Rajeev Kundal and AMVI Neetan Singh, the ARTO reiterated that these strict enforcement drives will continue aggressively to enhance road safety, foster traffic discipline, and eliminate hazardous driving behaviors.
