Middle East on the Brink: Iran Strikes US Bases as Israel-US Launch Massive “Operation Epic Fury” Across Iran and Iraq

TEHRAN / TEL AVIV / WASHINGTON – The Middle East has plunged into a state of full-scale military confrontation this Saturday, February 28, 2026, as a coordinated US-Israeli offensive, codenamed “Operation Epic Fury” and “Shield of Judah,” struck multiple strategic targets across Iran and Iraq. U.S. President Donald Trump confirmed the commencement of “major combat operations,” stating the strikes aim to permanently dismantle Iran’s nuclear and ballistic missile capabilities.

In a swift and violent retaliation, Iran’s Revolutionary Guard (IRGC) launched a massive barrage of missiles targeting major American military installations across the Gulf, with confirmed strikes hitting Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar, Al-Dhafra in the UAE, and the U.S. Navy’s 5th Fleet Headquarters in Bahrain.

Simultaneously, the Israeli Air Force (IAF) announced it is conducting “extensive” second-wave airstrikes on military complexes in Western Iran, while joint US-Israeli forces targeted Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) bases in Iraq to neutralize Iranian-backed proxies.

Adding to the maritime chaos, Yemen’s Houthi rebels officially declared they will resume all-out attacks on commercial and military shipping in the Red Sea, effectively closing one of the world’s most vital trade corridors.

With airspace shuttered across five nations and sirens wailing from Jerusalem to Abu Dhabi, the region now faces its most dangerous inflection point in decades.
