RAJOURI/POONCH JULY 26 — Managing Director of Jammu Power Distribution Corporation Limited (JPDCL), Gurpal Singh, conducted an extensive field tour across the flood-affected districts of Rajouri and Poonch to inspect ongoing power restoration efforts following heavy rainfall and flash floods. During his visit to key locations, including Muradpur, Salani, Bela, Fatehpur, Saj, Surankote Town, and the severely impacted MohraBachhai area, the Managing Director assessed repairs on damaged 33 kV and 11 kV lines, receiving stations, and distribution transformers. Commending the round-the-clock dedication of engineers and field staff working in challenging terrain and weather conditions, Singh stressed that maintaining uninterrupted power supply to critical infrastructure, particularly Public Health Engineering (PHE) drinking water installations and hospitals, remains the corporation’s highest priority.
Following the ground inspections, the Managing Director chaired a high-level review meeting at Dak Bungalow Poonch alongside Chief Engineer (Distribution) Arshad Hussain Reshi and other senior officials to streamline recovery operations. Singh directed officers to carry out restoration work on a war footing and instructed the immediate dispatch of essential materials, including poles, conductors, and transformers, to affected sites. Furthermore, he tasked Executive Engineers with leveraging turnkey contractors under the RDSS and DA-JGUA schemes to expedite repairs and minimize power downtime, reassuring the public that JPDCL operations will continue unabated until full normalcy is restored across all affected villages.
