Manoj Sinha monitors Gulmarg Gondola rescue operation after technical fault strands tourists

SRINAGAR, May 25, 2026 — Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha is directly monitoring the ongoing rescue operations to evacuate tourists who became stranded in cable car cabins following a technical fault at the Gulmarg Gondola.

Expressing immediate concern for the safety of the visitors, the Lieutenant Governor stated on X that the administration has mobilized all necessary resources to handle the situation. Sinha has directed the Director General of Police to proceed directly to the site to oversee the evacuation process and coordinate the emergency response on the ground.

A joint rescue team comprising personnel from the Jammu and Kashmir Police, the Indian Army, and the State Disaster Response Force is actively conducting the rescue operations.

The Deputy Commissioner and the Senior Superintendent of Police are also stationed at the location to manage the logistics and ensure a swift rollout of the safety measures.

The Lieutenant Governor assured that all departments are working in close coordination to ensure the complete safety and well-being of all the stranded tourists as quickly as possible.
