SRINAGAR, JULY 21 — Marking the successful completion of the 100-day ‘Drug-Free J&K campaign’, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha declared an unyielding resolve to dismantle narco-terror networks targeting the Union Territory’s youth. Addressing a commemorative event organized by the Department of Social Welfare, LG Sinha highlighted the significant strides made during the campaign while emphasizing that the mission remains far from complete. He stressed that the administration is focused on eradicating illicit trafficking ecosystems, driving public awareness, and offering structured rehabilitation to reintegrate affected individuals into society.
Reflecting on his extensive Padyatra across all 20 districts, LG Sinha shared poignant encounters with families affected by substance abuse, noting that the unprecedented public backing has fueled decisive enforcement actions. Over the past 100 days, law enforcement agencies arrested 2,581 drug traffickers, seized nearly 1,431 kg of narcotics—including 23.29 kg of heroin—and confiscated assets worth over ₹188.89 crore to disrupt narco-terror funding. Furthermore, strictly enforcing the law, authorities revoked driving licenses, vehicle registrations, and passports, while clamping down on non-compliant pharmacies to ensure accountability.
To sustain recovery efforts, the administration announced the upcoming “Rehabilitation and Socio-Economic Reintegration Scheme for Drug Abuse Victims, 2026,” which will launch as a pilot in sensitive districts of both the Jammu and Kashmir divisions. Built on a structured three-year cycle, the scheme provides comprehensive medical care and therapy, educational and employment assistance, and long-term community support to prevent relapses. Expressing gratitude to law enforcement, civil administration, religious groups, and youth volunteers, LG Sinha urged citizens to break the silence surrounding addiction and called on the youth to resist drug cartels, channeling their energy toward building a peaceful and prosperous Jammu and Kashmir.
