SRINAGAR, JULY 27 — Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha chaired the maiden meeting of the newly constituted Governing Board of Gandhi Memorial College Srinagar at Lok Bhavan to review and improve the institution’s overall functioning. During the session, the Lieutenant Governor directed the formulation of a comprehensive policy to streamline administrative and operational frameworks across the college. Key agenda items discussed included the adoption of the Governing Board’s Rules of Business, Grant-in-Aid for G. M. College of Education in Bantalab, Jammu, streamlining recruitment processes, and resolving pensionary benefits for current and retired staff retroactive to 2002. Additionally, the Board deliberated on expanding campus infrastructure, updating current curricula, and rolling out new courses tailored to the National Education Policy (NEP).
The high-level meeting brought together key administrative and academic leaders, including Finance Department Additional Chief Secretary Shailendra Kumar, Higher Education Department Commissioner/Secretary Ram Niwas Sharma, Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Commissioner/Secretary Achal Sethi, Director Colleges S. Ajaz Bashir, and Hindu Education Society Kashmir President B. L. Zutshi. Other attendees included Board members Ashok Aima, Veena Pandita, Verinder Rawal, V. K. Raina, and M. K. Jalali, along with Kashmir University Dean of Academic Affairs Shariefuddin Pirzada, Dean of College Development Council Aneesa Shafi, Gandhi Memorial College Principal Masood Ahmad Malik, and several senior officials.
