KISHTWAR, JULY 21 — In a significant breakthrough against anti-national networks, Jammu and Kashmir Police arrested a key accused involved in providing logistical and operational support to foreign terrorists in the Chatroo area of Kishtwar district.
The arrest was made in connection with the ongoing investigation under FIR No. 03/2026 registered at Police Station Chatroo under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, and the Arms Act.
Providing details on the operation, Senior Superintendent of Police Kishtwar Naresh Singh stated that following meticulous investigative work and targeted field operations, security forces apprehended Mohd Rafiq Naik, a resident of Dwather, Singhpur.
Preliminary questioning revealed that Naik was functioning as the primary handler for the Saifullah Group in the Chatroo belt, actively facilitating the movement and activities of foreign terrorists operating in the region.
This apprehension marks a critical development following the earlier arrests of co-accused Muneer Ahmed and Mashkoor Ahmed, both residents of Chatroo, who were similarly involved in supporting terrorist elements.
Law enforcement agencies are continuing their probe to uncover the full extent of the network, establish remaining linkages, and dismantle the local support infrastructure. Reaffirming a zero-tolerance policy toward terrorism and its facilitators, the police urged citizens to assist law enforcement by sharing information regarding any suspicious or anti-national activities.
