NEW DELHI JULY 26— Addressing the “Kargil Vijay Diwas” program organized by the Jammu & Kashmir People’s Forum in New Delhi, Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh emphasized that the lessons of the 1999 Kargil Conflict remain deeply relevant today as India continues to navigate persistent external security challenges. He highlighted that while external threats persist, the nation’s broader defense and security landscape has undergone a decisive transformation over the past decade. India’s national security posture has fundamentally evolved from a historically reactive approach to one characterized by proactive, firm, and decisive strategic action against external aggression.
Dr. Singh underscored that the explicit policy of “zero tolerance” towards terrorism established by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, combined with modern border management and a shift toward strategic defense preparedness, has dramatically elevated national confidence and fortified India’s capacity to protect its territorial integrity. Turning to historical and geopolitical context, the Union Minister remarked that the partition of India stands as one of the greatest blunders in history. He stated that the retrieval of Pakistan-occupied Jammu & Kashmir (PoJK) remains the sole pending issue requiring resolution between India and Pakistan.
