JAMMU, JULY 26 — As part of the ongoing nationwide Van Mahotsav celebrations, a high-profile tree plantation drive was successfully organized at the scenic Nagar Van Raika under the environmental initiative “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam.” The event witnessed active participation from key judicial officers, senior forest officials, and department staff. Principal District & Sessions Judge Jammu, Ravinder Nath Watal, alongside Civil Judge (Senior Division) Maleeka Sharma, spearheaded the effort by planting saplings across the urban forest reserve. Applauding the initiative, Judge Watal commended the Jammu Forest Department for their dedicated efforts in developing and maintaining Nagar Van at such a vital, picturesque location, highlighting its significant role in advancing ecological conservation and boosting overall public well-being.
The plantation drive brought together prominent officials, including Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Jammu Anurag Arya, Deputy Director J01 Gamma Unit Tariq Ahmed, and Standing Counsel for the J&K Forest Department Anchit Sharma. Officers and personnel from the Jammu Forest Division and the J01 Forest Protection Force also joined in planting native saplings to enhance the city’s green cover. The event reinforced the collaborative commitment between the judiciary and local environmental authorities to foster sustainable green initiatives and build community awareness around forest preservation.
