SRINAGAR, JULY 23, 2026 — Widespread monsoon rains continued across Jammu and Kashmir and parts of Ladakh, with several key stations registering heavy to moderate precipitation in the 24 hours leading up to 8:30 a.m. today. According to figures compiled by Kashmir Weather, Reasi district in the Jammu division recorded the highest rainfall in the region at 119.5 mm, followed closely by the pilgrimage town of Katra with 97.4 mm.
In the Jammu region, persistent downpours were observed across multiple districts. Ramban received 71.5 mm of rainfall, while the city of Jammu and Batote recorded 60.6 mm and 60.4 mm, respectively. Other prominent locations in the division registering significant rainfall included Udhampur (53.2 mm), Banihal (53.0 mm), Jammu Airport (42.6 mm), Rajouri (32.6 mm), Kathua (22.2 mm), Doda (15.0 mm), Bhaderwah (14.0 mm), Kishtwar (12.0 mm), Poonch (11.0 mm), and Samba (data not available).
In the Kashmir Valley, Qazigund—the gateway to the valley—recorded the highest precipitation at 73.3 mm, followed by the popular tourist destination Pahalgam at 60.2 mm. Significant rainfall was also measured in Khudwani (48.0 mm), Kokernag (47.9 mm), Batkoot (43.5 mm), Gulmarg (39.0 mm), Sangam (37.0 mm), Verinag (35.3 mm), Awantipora (31.2 mm), and Baramulla (30.5 mm). Kulgam recorded 24.2 mm, Tangmarg 22.2 mm, Pampore 20.0 mm, Handwara’s Nowgam 18.6 mm, Ganderbal 18.0 mm, Shopian 17.0 mm, Lolab 16.4 mm, Bumhama Kupwara 16.2 mm, Srinagar 15.6 mm, Babapora 15.1 mm, Pulwama 14.2 mm, Wular 14.0 mm, Sonamarg 13.0 mm, Asham and Sopore 12.0 mm each, Srinagar Airport 9.8 mm, Kupwara 6.9 mm, and Charar-i-Sharief 6.6 mm. Data for Anantnag, Budgam, and Bandipora remained unavailable.
Meanwhile, the high-altitude union territory of Ladakh saw light rain, with Leh logging 0.6 mm, while rainfall figures for Kargil were not available.
