SRINAGAR, May 17, 2026 :- The Meteorological Centre Srinagar has issued a comprehensive weather forecast and safety advisory for Jammu and Kashmir, predicting generally dry weather conditions for May 17 and 18.

However, the weather pattern is expected to shift between May 19 and 21, bringing partly to generally cloudy skies along with a spell of light rain, thundershowers, and gusty winds across scattered to many places during the afternoon and evening hours.

Following this wet spell, the region will experience generally dry forenoons with brief showers at a few places during the afternoons from May 22 to 25, before returning to stable, generally dry weather between May 26 and 28.

In light of the changing weather patterns, the meteorological department has issued an advisory warning of potential thunder, lightning, and gusty winds reaching speeds of 40 to 50 kilometers per hour at a few places in both the Kashmir and Jammu divisions from May 19 to 21.

Tourists and operators are strongly advised to suspend boating and shikara riding, particularly during the afternoon and late afternoon hours when the weather is expected to deteriorate.

Farmers across the region have been advised to continue their essential farm operations only until the afternoon of May 19.

Additionally, residents should prepare for a rise in day temperatures by 2 to 4°C at many places, leading to hot and dry weather conditions in parts of the plains of the Jammu division.
