Jammu and Kashmir Weather Forecast Alerts Rain and Heatwave

SRINAGAR May 20,2026 — The Meteorological Centre in Srinagar has issued a fresh weather update indicating a mix of light rain, thunderstorms, and intense heat across different regions of Jammu and Kashmir over the next week.

For May 20 and May 21, residents can expect partly to generally cloudy skies, accompanied by a spell of light rain, thundershowers, gusty winds, and hailstorms in scattered to many places, particularly during the afternoon and evening hours.

A specific weather advisory has been issued for May 20 and May 21, warning of potential thunder, lightning, hailstorms, and strong gusty winds. These winds are expected to reach speeds of 40 to 50 kilometers per hour, with some gusts exceeding 60 kilometers per hour in a few areas across both the Kashmir and Jammu divisions.

Concurrently, a heatwave warning is in place for a few locations within the Jammu division on May 20.Following this active weather phase, the period from May 22 to May 25 will bring generally dry conditions in the forenoon, though brief showers may still develop at isolated to scattered places during the afternoon or late afternoon hours.

The region will then transition to generally hot and dry weather from May 26 to May 28. To close out the month, from May 29 to May 31, skies will turn partly to generally cloudy again, bringing light rain and thundershowers to isolated spots, mostly during the afternoon and late afternoon periods.
