JAMMU, JULY 21 — In a major push to enforce strict regulatory compliance in the region, the Agriculture Production & Farmers Welfare Department carried out a joint inspection of key pesticide and fertilizer dealers across Jammu district. Conducted under the directives of Director Anil Gupta, the drive aimed to ensure strict adherence to the Fertilizer (Control) Order, 1985, alongside the Insecticides Act, 1968 and Insecticides Rules, 1971.
The inspection team—led by Plant Protection Officer Raju Mahajan and Assistant Director Law Enforcement Kuldeep Singh—visited the business premises of M/s Akhil India Pvt. Ltd., M/s Jammu Agri Inputs, and M/s Vivek Enterprises. Officials conducted detailed physical verifications of available pesticide stocks, carefully scrutinizing licenses, Principal Certificates, authorization validities, and statutory stock registers to ensure all trade practices align with legal standards.
During the audit, dealers were explicitly directed to stock and sell only those products backed by valid Principal Certificates and active licensing. The team also evaluated the rollout of the Integrated Pesticide Management System (IPMS) Portal, a central digital platform designed by the Government of India to streamline licensing and monitor pesticide distribution nationwide. Officials stressed that portal onboarding is mandatory across all levels of the supply chain, instructing major distributors to immediately ensure that all retailers operating under their certificates have fully functional digital accounts. Authorities concluded the drive with a stern warning that any breach of statutory provisions or licensing terms will invite immediate legal action under the law.
