Indian Army’s Surya Command Launches Panchshul Pulse Mobile App to Boost Himalayan Connectivity

LUCKNOW, INDIA — In a major effort to enhance community outreach and strengthen digital connectivity in the border regions, the Indian Army’s Central Command—popularly known as the Surya Command—has officially launched the “Panchshul Pulse” mobile app. The application was inaugurated by Lieutenant General Anindya Sengupta, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief (GOC-in-C) of the Central Command. Operating under the theme “Connecting the Himalayas, One Handset at a Time,” the digital initiative is designed to bridge the communication gap between remote frontier areas and the rest of the nation.

The Panchshul Pulse app brings the localized, soulful voice of community radio from Pithoragarh and the wider Kumaon region of Uttarakhand directly to smartphones nationwide. By broadcasting local stories, cultural heritage, regional aspirations, and the enduring spirit of the hill communities, the platform aims to significantly deepen listener engagement. Serving as a vital digital bridge, the Indian Army’s new mobile initiative ensures that the voices of the Himalayan border residents are amplified, fostering greater national integration and expanding outreach across critical frontier zones.
