POONCH, July 21, 2026 — Demonstrating rapid disaster response and unwavering commitment to public safety, troops from the Indian Army’s White Knight Corps launched a series of swift humanitarian and rescue operations following heavy rainfall, severe flash floods, and infrastructure damage across the Rajouri-Poonch region.
At Jaran Wali Gali in Poonch, heavy rains caused the boundary wall of PM SHRI Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya to collapse onto several parked vehicles, blocking the busy NH-144A. Deploying specialized equipment, White Knight Corps troops cleared the debris, extricated the damaged vehicles, and safely restored the flow of traffic on the national highway. Concurrently, near Khari Karmara, personnel collaborated with the 79 Road Construction Company (Border Roads Organisation) and local residents to repair a key bridge damaged by strong currents; despite hazardous conditions, the team re-established the vital transit link in under three hours.
In another heroic effort at flood-hit Dara Sangla—where an iron bridge was swept away, completely isolating the village—an Army Medical Team navigated a turbulent flooded stream over an improvised wooden log bridge to reach stranded families. The medical team performed rapid triage, provided life-saving first aid to an injured civilian, and distributed essential medicines to local women and children. Through these coordinated, high-risk interventions, the Indian Army ensured public safety, restored critical connectivity, and reaffirmed its enduring bond of trust with local communities.
