AHMEDABAD, July 24 — In response to the escalating flood situation across Gujarat, the Indian Army’s Southern Command has mobilised multiple Relief and Rescue Columns to assist the civil administration.
Equipped with dedicated engineer and medical teams, the forces have been actively deployed to conduct swift Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief operations in heavily affected districts.Army teams are currently operating on the ground in Navsari, Valsad, Silvassa, and Ahmedabad to assist local residents.
To ensure a rapid response as conditions evolve, additional columns have been placed on high alert in Surat, Vadodara, and Ahmedabad, ready to deploy at short notice.Rescue efforts in Navsari began late last night, leading to the successful evacuation of 43 civilians who were trapped in submerged areas. Evacuation operations are still underway in the region as teams work continuously to move stranded citizens to safety.
Working alongside the National Disaster Response Force, State Disaster Response Force, and local administrative bodies, the Indian Army continues to coordinate joint relief measures. Operations remain ongoing to safeguard lives and provide immediate support to impacted communities.
