REASI, July 25 — Heavy rainfall continues to lash several parts of the Reasi district, triggering a sharp rise in water inflow into the Chenab River and the Salal Dam reservoir. To regulate the surging reservoir levels and safely discharge excess water, authorities have opened multiple spillway gates of the dam.
The controlled release has led to a significant increase in the water level and swift flow of the Chenab River downstream. In light of the persisting wet weather, the district administration has urged residents—particularly those living along the riverbanks and in low-lying areas—to remain highly vigilant, strictly avoid venturing near the water bodies, and follow all official safety advisories.
