Ganderbal police conduct security mock drills for Shri Amarnath Yatra and Mela Kheer Bhawani

GANDERBAL, June 7, 2026 :- Ganderbal police conducted a series of comprehensive mock drills last week at various strategic locations across the district. The exercises were designed to assess operational readiness, emergency response capabilities, and inter-agency coordination ahead of the forthcoming Amarnath Ji Yatra and the annual Mela Kheer Bhawani.
The drills took place at Mata Kheer Bhawani Temple, Wussan Pandit Colony, Manigam Pandit Colony, Wandhama Pandit Colony, and Sonamarg. The exercises involved the joint participation of Ganderbal district police, Special Operations Group, Army, Central Reserve Police Force, Border Security Force, Sashastra Seema Bal, State Disaster Response Force, the health department, fire and emergency services, and other security agencies.
A dedicated mock drill was also conducted specifically at Mata Kheer Bhawani Temple for the upcoming annual Mela Kheer Bhawani. This exercise aimed to evaluate security preparedness, emergency response mechanisms, crowd management, evacuation procedures, and inter-agency coordination to ensure the smooth and safe conduct of the religious event.
The mock drills simulated various emergency scenarios to test the readiness of security forces and other stakeholders. The exercises were executed successfully, demonstrating a high level of alertness, professionalism, and synergy among all the participating agencies.
Police officials stated they remain committed to ensuring a safe, secure, and incident-free environment for all devotees and visitors during both major events.
