SRINAGAR, July 24 — The Food and Drugs Administration carried out 118 inspections of food business establishments across the region and collected 54 enforcement samples of various food items for quality and safety laboratory testing. Authorities also collected 16 surveillance samples from Integrated Child Development Services centres to verify the quality of food provided to beneficiaries. Following the inspections, three improvement notices were issued to food business operators for observed non-compliance and hygiene deficiencies.
These regulatory actions build upon widespread enforcement drives conducted since July 1, during which officials executed 1,642 inspections across Jammu and Kashmir. In total, 878 enforcement samples and 223 surveillance samples have been lifted for testing, covering staple products such as milk, edible oils, cereals, and spices, along with the issuance of 89 improvement notices to business operators. Officials have urged consumers to report any suspected cases of food adulteration or unsafe products using the designated regional helpline or email service.
