KUPWARA, July 27 — The Zila Sainik Welfare Office in Kupwara organized an interaction meet for ex-servicemen, war widows, and dependents at Tangdhar on Monday as part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen community engagement.
During the session, officials detailed various available welfare schemes and benefits while directly addressing individual grievances and resolving several service-related issues on the spot to ensure responsive support.
Beyond veteran services, the gathering addressed the growing challenge of drug abuse, urging attendees to use their societal influence to help protect youth from narcotics. Representatives from the welfare office also encouraged veterans to pursue self-reliance through entrepreneurship and self-employment.
Participants were briefed on government initiatives across agriculture, skill development, employment generation, Mission YUVA, and schemes under the Khadi and Village Industries Board, aiming to help former service members transition into economic leaders within their communities.
