Defense Minister Rajnath Singh strengthens strategic ties in South Korea

SEOUL, May 20, 2026 :- Defense Minister Rajnath Singh commenced his official visit to the Republic of Korea by laying a wreath at the National Cemetery of Korea.

He paid homage to the brave soldiers who made the supreme sacrifice in service of their nation, noting that their courage, dedication, and spirit of patriotism remain an enduring source of inspiration. He affirmed that India stands in solidarity with the Republic of Korea in honoring the legacy of its heroes.

Following the solemn ceremony, the minister held a highly productive meeting with his South Korean counterpart, Ahn Gyu Back, in Seoul. The bilateral discussions focused on ways to further deepen defense, defense industry, and strategic cooperation between India and the Republic of Korea.

Both nations reiterated their shared commitment toward regional peace, stability, and enhanced technological collaboration to address evolving global challenges.

The engagement resulted in the exchange of key bilateral agreements aimed at making the partnership stronger and more multidimensional.

The newly signed pacts include agreements on promoting defense cyber cooperation, cooperation between the National Defense College of India and the Korea National Defense University, and mutual cooperation in United Nations peacekeeping operations.

The defense minister expressed optimism about strengthening the special strategic partnership between the two nations moving forward.
