RAMBAN JULY 26— Deputy Commissioner Ramban Mohammad Alyas Khan conducted a site inspection of the landslide and land subsidence area at Pernote on the Ramban-Gool Road on Sunday to review damage caused by heavy rainfall and evaluate ongoing restoration efforts. Accompanied by Senior Superintendent of Police Arun Gupta, Assistant Commissioner Revenue Shokat Hayat Mattoo, and other key departmental officials, the Deputy Commissioner assessed a severely impacted 300-meter stretch that has disrupted critical transportation between Ramban and Gool.
Executing agencies, led by the Border Roads Organisation (BRO), informed administration officials that debris clearance and stabilization operations are currently underway on a war footing using heavy machinery and specialized teams. To prioritize public convenience and regional connectivity, DC Khan directed BRO leadership and field officers to mobilize additional manpower and equipment to further accelerate the timeline for restoring traffic movement. In light of ongoing ground instability and the heightened risk of further sliding, the district administration issued an urgent public safety appeal advising local residents and commuters to strictly avoid the Pernote subsidence zone while emergency personnel complete the restoration work.
