CRPF Udhampur Hosts Grand Volleyball Tournament Finale to Empower Local Youth

UDHAMPUR, FEBRUARY 28— In a significant move to foster sportsmanship and community engagement, the 137 Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) successfully organized the final match of its high-octane Volleyball Tournament on February 28, 2026.

Held at the SRTC Campus in Udhampur under the Civic Action Programme (CAP), the event was conducted in close coordination with the Volleyball Association of Udhampur.

The tournament reached its thrilling climax with a face-off between Fusion Volleyball Club and Udhampur Volleyball Club, showcasing exceptional athletic skill, high-energy plays, and intense team-building drills that captivated the local audience and security personnel alike.

The closing ceremony was graced by a distinguished gathering, including Balwant Singh Mankotia, MLA Chenani; Sukhdev Singh, Vice President of J&K Kisan State Morcha; and Kripal Singh, Manager of SRTC.

Representing the CRPF were M.K. Sicon, Commandant of the 137 Bn, along with Second-in-command Kartar Singh, Deputy Commandants R.L. Meena and Suresh, and Medical Officer Dr. Manish Rundla.

Sports officials, including Ashok Padha, President of the Volleyball Association Udhampur, and Joint Secretary Kuldeep Sharma, were also in attendance to support the six participating teams: Fusion Club, Veer Volleyball Club, C.V.C., U.V.C., Friends Volleyball Club, and Ramnagar Volleyball Club.

Beyond the competitive spirit, the initiative served as a platform for holistic development. Local coaches and CRPF officials provided vital mentorship to the youth, emphasizing the importance of physical fitness, sports discipline, and mental resilience.

Participants were encouraged to adopt healthy lifestyles and overcome limiting mindsets to achieve overall well-being. To support the athletes, the 137 Bn distributed comprehensive sports kits, including professional-grade volleyballs, nets, branded jerseys, shorts, and high-quality sports shoes.

Top performers were honored with metallic trophies, “Man of the Match” awards, and certificates of participation to recognize their dedication.The local community and media representatives highly praised the CRPF’s consistent efforts in nation-building through sports.

This marks the third consecutive year the 137 Bn has hosted such tournaments, following successful editions in 2024 and 2025. Residents expressed a strong desire for the CRPF to continue these outreach programs, noting that such events are instrumental in steering the youth toward constructive activities and strengthening the bond between the security forces and the citizens of Jammu and Kashmir.
