Chief Minister Honors Heroic Legacy at Renovated War Memorial and Infantry Milestone

SRINAGAR, April 15: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah marked a significant day for the region’s military heritage by rededicating the newly renovated War Memorial and celebrating the 78th Raising Day of the Jammu & Kashmir Light Infantry (JAK LI) Regimental Centre.

During the event, the Chief Minister served as the guest of honor, unveiling the upgraded memorial and participating in a solemn wreath-laying ceremony to remember the soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice for the country.

Surrounded by high-ranking military officials and distinguished guests, including former Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah, the ceremony served as a powerful reminder of the bravery that has defined this specific regiment since its inception.

The JAK LI Regiment holds a storied place in Indian military history, having evolved from local militias in 1947 into one of the most decorated units in the army. Over the decades, these soldiers have been central to critical operations, from the heights of Siachen to the rugged terrain of Kargil, consistently demonstrating immense courage and discipline.

The Regimental Centre continues to be a pillar of excellence, focusing on high-level training and molding new recruits into dedicated defenders of the nation.
