Center approves inter cadre deputation of Mukesh Singh IPS to Manipur cadre for three years
NEW DELHI, May 22, 2026 — The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet approved a proposal from the Ministry of Home Affairs for the inter-cadre deputation of Mukesh Singh, an Indian Police Service officer of the 1996 AGMUT batch, to the Manipur cadre.
According to an official order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training, the deputation is approved for a period of three years. In a move taken as a special case in public interest, the government relaxed the standard conditions governing inter-cadre shifts and waived the mandatory cooling-off period usually required after a central deputation.
The order, signed by Director Annies Kanmoni Joy, has been forwarded to the Ministry of Home Affairs along with various senior government offices, including the Prime Minister’s Office and the Cabinet Secretariat, for formal implementation.
