Baramulla police bust terrorist hideout and destroy explosives in Jammu and Kashmir
BARAMULLA, May 24, 2026 :- The Jammu and Kashmir Police, in a joint counter-terror operation with security forces, successfully busted a terrorist hideout and recovered a significant cache of explosives in the Nilsar Kandi area of Chandoosa, Baramulla.
Acting on specific intelligence generated by the police, a joint operation was launched alongside the 52 Rashtriya Rifles, 53 Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force, and 2 Battalion of the Sashastra Seema Bal.
During the operation, security forces unearthed a concealed hideout and recovered a substantial quantity of war-like stores, including 14 Soviet-made OG-7V fragmentation rounds meant for rocket-propelled grenades in plastic packaging, and 9 PG-7P propellant charges or boosters contained in green plastic tubes.
The recovery has thwarted a potential threat and represents a significant achievement in ongoing anti-terror operations in North Kashmir.The operation in the area continued for nearly six hours to ensure complete sanitization and eliminate any potential threat.
Subsequently, the recovered explosive materials were thoroughly examined by the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad of the Jammu and Kashmir Police and were safely destroyed in-situ in accordance with established safety protocols.
A case has been registered under the Explosive Substances Act and the Arms Act at the Chandoosa police station, and an investigation has been initiated.
