KARGIL, July 26 — Ladakh Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena inaugurated a modern Automated Driving Testing Centre at Kurbathang in Kargil. The ceremony took place alongside Kargil Chief Executive Councillor Dr Jaffer Akhoon and Ladakh Member of Parliament Mohd Haneefa Jan.
The new facility brings the UT Ladakh Transport Department in line with national standards by using a computerized, sensor-based evaluation system for issuing driving licenses. By removing human intervention, the automated process ensures complete transparency, strengthens road safety, and delivers faster, citizen-friendly services to residents across the region.
During the event, Saxena urged citizens to view obtaining a license as a essential duty toward road safety rather than just a legal obligation.
