NEW DELHI July 27 — Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi expressed deep grief over the loss of lives in the devastating Assam floods, offering his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and expressing solidarity with the millions affected by the disaster.
The senior Congress leader urged both the central and state governments to leave no stone unturned in carrying out relief and rescue operations for those impacted. Highlighting the recurring nature of the calamity, he noted that floods hit the state every year, causing heavy loss of life and property while displacing countless families.
Rahul Gandhi called for a long-term solution, stating that it is time to establish a strong and permanent flood management system. He stressed the need for a scientific framework that prioritizes disaster prevention, early warning systems, robust infrastructure, and proper rehabilitation to protect people from facing such tragedies annually.
