NEW DELHI, May 25, 2026:- A modern Ring Gantry-based Linear Accelerator was commissioned into the Department of Radiation Oncology at Army Hospital Research and Referral in Delhi today. The inauguration took place in the presence of Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh.

This advanced technology aims to strengthen cancer care services at the hospital while improving access to high-end radiotherapy for serving personnel, veterans, and their dependents.

The new equipment is expected to significantly enhance in-house treatment capacity for the heavy patient load at the facility. This state-of-the-art Linear Accelerator is capable of delivering modern radiotherapy techniques, including Volumetric Modulated Arc Therapy, Intensity-Modulated Radiation Therapy, Image-Guided Radiation Therapy, Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy, and Stereotactic Radiosurgery.

The machine enables precise delivery of radiation directly to tumor sites while minimizing exposure to surrounding healthy tissues, which supports better treatment outcomes and overall patient care. The procurement of this equipment marks a substantial upgrade for the Armed Forces Medical Services, replacing older equipment that has now been decommissioned.

This induction represents a major step toward modernizing oncology services across the military medical network, with plans already underway to upgrade other oncology centers under the Armed Forces Medical Services in a phased manner.
